Plant description

The Stanford Solar Plant (Stanford) is located in Rosamond, Kern County, California, in the United States and commenced commercial operations in late 2016. Stanford has a secured 25 year power purchase agreement (PPA) with The Board of Trustees of the Leland Stanford Junior University (Stanford University).

Stanford is comprised of 155,000 panels and contributes to Stanford University’s goal to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 68% and use of fossil fuels by 65% – and produce the equivalent of over half of the electrical power used by the campus1. The 67.4MWDC plant is located in the Antelope Valley, contains about 19.9 million solar cells, and covers approximately 200 acres.

 New Energy Solar acquired a substantial majority interest in the plant shortly after it t commenced commercial operations in December 2016.
